We are looking for Policy Advisers and currently have vacancies in the following teams:
Investment (Auckland): over the next 10 years, around $45 billion will be spent on land transport investment. Our Investment team provides advice to Government to shape this expenditure. As transport investments have long lead times, high costs and leave long legacies, members of the Investment team think both about today’s transport challenges as well as those we will face well into the future.
Mobility & Safety: Focusses on ensuring that New Zealand’s road transport system is safe and accessible for all road users. The work of this team directly affects all New Zealanders, and is a key priority for the Ministry and the Government.
We are a small but far-reaching agency and our busy, varied work programme means you will have exposure to a wide range of policy work and senior stakeholders, helping you expand your policy skills. As Policy Adviser, you will bring your ability to work independently and manage priorities. You will also contribute to the wider policy team through your strong analytical and organisational skills, and ability to work on multiple tasks/initiatives to deliver to deadlines. We’re looking for people with:
- A ‘can do' attitude, and people wanting to take ownership of their work to deliver the best results
- Excellent organisational, oral presentation and written communication skills.
- Report writing, planning, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to analyse and organise data.
- Ability to work both in a team situation and autonomously.
- Critical thinking skills to identify issues and solutions in producing deliverables.
- The ability to adapt to new environments and to assimilate information quickly.
