DCE Regulatory and Data
Permanent – Full time
"It’s a time of change at the Ministry of Transport. Following in-depth consultation both internally and with key transport partners we have landed a fresh new design and vision to help shape New Zealand’s future. Transport impacts everyone and MoT is the policy engine room, advising how transport can better the lives of New Zealanders, whether that is enabling driverless cars, contributing to urban and regional development, or tourism earnings. We are looking to combine our key strengths with new talent to adapt to our environment that is complex and changing at pace! To really get transport working the way New Zealanders need it to, collaboration will be the key – collaboration across all aspects of the Ministry, and collaboration with an extensive array of external transport partners". Peter Mersi, Chief Executive, Ministry of Transport
Robust evidence and analysis are at the core of any effective regulatory policy. You will have specific responsibility for the capture and dissemination of data, information and insights required for effective decision making and the development of regulatory policy across the Ministry, and in conjunction with aligned regulatory agencies.
Leading the sector across these disciplines and leveraging capability with and from Crown Entities, academia and local authorities you will ensure significant contribution to whole of government activities around resilience and security.
You will be directly responsible for the Resilience & Security, Mobility & Safety, International Connections, Domain Strategy, Economics & Evaluation, and Analytics and Modelling Teams.
While we undoubtedly seek superior capability in each DCE, it is absolutely imperative that you have a philosophy of organisational contribution and impact, not just a focus on your own area of responsibility. Further, a critical competency of all those appointed will be their ability to engage with and build “empowerment” at all levels, having all staff want to take responsibility and “make things happen”.
