About the opportunity | Ngā whakamārama mō te tūnga
As the Senior
Adviser Emergency Management, you’ll play an important role in ensuring the
Ministry of Transport are doing all we can to make ourselves resilient and
prepared for when an emergency happens, and the transport system is up and
running after an emergency event.
Key
responsibilities include:
- Providing high quality operational advice to managers, our Senior Leadership team and Ministers
- Leading operational implementation of solutions, to emergency management and national security issues involving the transport sector
- Working across the system to engage on the National Resilience System and work closely with our cross agency partners, including the Civil Aviation Authority (including Avsec), Waka Kotahi the New Zealand Transport Agency, KiwiRail, Maritime New Zealand, and the Transport Accident Investigation Commission, to help deliver key ministerial priorities and ensure safety and emergency management of the transport system
- Developing and maintaining readiness documents, with
respect to the Ministry of Transport’s and Transport Response Team’s role in
responding to events.

What you’ll bring | Te wāhi ki a

- Well-developed experience in New Zealand’s National Resilience System and Emergency Management System
- Well-developed experience in New Zealand’s Coordinated Incident Management System (CIMS) and the 4R (reduction, readiness, response, and recovery) framework
- Strong experience and demonstrated successful capability working under pressure and managing tight timelines
- Strong experience and demonstrated capability in successfully building and maintaining effective working relationships at all levels, internally and externally, including collaborating with others to achieve outcomes, and influencing the agenda
- Significant experience and demonstrated capability in successful communication (written and verbal) and influencing skills. Using a range of oral, written and visual mediums to communicate effectively to diverse audiences and situations
- Significant experience and demonstrated successful capability in effectively building the capability of others, including the provision of training, guidance, coaching and on-the-job training to less experienced people
- A Top-Secret National Security Clearance or the eligibility to obtain and maintain this level of clearance
Salary range | Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau
The base salary range budget for this position is $108,126 to $125,000 per annum (+ KiwiSaver). The salary offered will reflect skills and experience.
