Position Type: Permanent, Full Time (38 hours per week)
Location: Wellington CBD office (Queens Wharf) / 2x flexible WFH days per week
Salary: $108,126 - $130,000 per annum (+ KiwiSaver)

About the opportunity
We are looking for a high-performing candidate to join our Wellington office as a Senior Adviser working on policy issues. You will work closely with your team manager to lead and shape a variety of key projects.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the manager to drive the team’s work programme and contributing to the development and implementation of the team’s strategy.
- Applying economic principles and frameworks in your advice and examining tradeoffs, efficiency and value for money.
- Providing policy advice and supporting key projects in risky, complex, ambiguous, and/or sensitive policy areas.
- Supporting with cross-Ministry and cross-government policy issues and negotiations.
- Establishing strong relationships across other transport sector agencies and the wider government sector.
What you’ll bring
You will bring extensive strategic policy development
experience from multiple central government organisations, and:
- A good understanding of the policy process, including machinery of government knowledge.
- A reputation for delivery and meeting deadlines with demonstrated policy and/or other advisory experience.
- Very strong written and analytical ability.
- A good grasp of economic principles and public policy development.
- Experience working with and supporting senior decision-makers, including Ministers, to deliver outcomes.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels, internally and externally.
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant field (such as public policy, economics, or statistics).
Salary range
The base salary range for this position is $108,126 - $130,000 per annum (+ KiwiSaver). The salary offered will reflect skills and experience.
