Senior Data Analyst & Analysts
Have you always wanted to be a detective, a coder, a scientist, and a professor? All at the same time? Are you excited to jump into interesting questions and look forward to scoping approaches, data wrangling, exploring with models and visualisations, and crafting narratives for business stakeholders?
The Analytics and Modelling team are expanding, we are looking to fill a number of both Senior and Analyst level positions within the team. You don’t have to be in working in the public sector to have the skills that we need. Instead, you need experience in creative problem-solving of complex issues, and providing high quality insights from analytics and modelling.
At Te Manatū Waka we pride ourselves on maintaining a work culture that is inclusive, collaborative, bold and invested. Our waterfront offices further enhance the Ministry’s working environment. We are flexible by default and can offer work arrangements which embrace a healthy work/life balance.
About the Analytics and Modelling Team
At the Ministry you will find no day is the same. The Analytics and Modelling team undertakes research and analysis of complex and sensitive issues to bring evidence and insights into transport policy decisions. You will have a role in data analysis and interpretation to inform the Ministry’s strategy and policy.
Be part of a team that goes beyond the reporting of data to provide expert analytics and modelling for policy and strategy advice.
Some of the work you could be involved in is:
- Understanding, using and generating insight from, the Household Travel Survey - a continuous nearly 30-year survey of transport across New Zealand.
- Developing an agent-based simulation model of transport in New Zealand, which aims to enable the understanding of individual choices, social impact and equity of policy change on transport.
- Developing insight from the database of road traffic crashes to generate better policy and a safer transport network.
- Helping to determine how government should optimise and influence the supply chain through analysis of freight movement in to, out of and across New Zealand.
- Modelling and prioritising our emissions reduction policies to ensure that New Zealand can reach it’s zero carbon goals.
If you are interested in contributing to this fascinating part of the organisation where your effective analysis and insight forms the basis of key strategies, plans and policy advice, we want to hear from you.
