Salary: Senior Data Analyst - $109,208 per annum (+ KiwiSaver)
Principal Data Analyst - $137,527 - $170,664 per annum (+ KiwiSaver)
About the opportunity | Ngā whakamārama mō te tūnga
We are looking for either a Senior or a Principal level Data Analyst to join the National Transport Modelling team.
The National Transport Modelling Team is responsible for the development, running, and analysis of the National Transport Model (Monty). The Monty modelling stack includes population and activity synthesis, network generation, agent-based network simulation, and output processing. We provide data handling, modelling, and analytics capability to inform strategy, policy, and development for the Ministry and the wider transport sector. It is a thrilling project.
This position is Wellington based only.
What you’ll bring | Te wāhi ki a koe
We are seeking candidates with:
- Experience contributing to a compute and data software technology
 - Experience or great interest in the Julia programming language, Terraform/OpenTofu, and the Nix package and environment management language
 - Experience with Linux and cloud computing
 - Experience specifying mathematical procedures given domain specific information
 - Well-developed organisational skills, and ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines
 - Experience communicating technical concepts, in writing and verbally
 - A sound understanding of modelling, programming, and computing
 - Understanding of the fundamentals of statistical/machine learning
 - A knowledge of a range of mathematical modelling techniques. 
 
As our incoming principal
data analyst, you will also bring extensive analytical and programming skills.
You will have experience leading and managing projects, collaborating with and
mentoring others. Your ability to communicate complex analysis clearly and
effectively - both verbally and in writing, ensures your insights are
understood and valued by senior stakeholders. 
Holding a post-graduate
qualification in a relevant analytical field (e.g. science, mathematics,
engineering, operational research, computer science) is desirable or extensive
experience in quantitative analysis in a technical policy environment for both
the senior and principal level analyst.  
Salary range | Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau
The base salary range budget for this position Senior Data Analyst - $109,208 – $145,055 (midpoint $120,878) per annum
The base salary range
budget for this principal data analyst - $137,527 –
170,664 (midpoint $142,221).  
The salary offered will reflect skills and experience.
